One new General Hospital character is set to be recast, and one favorite says goodbye–for now.

A New Oscar

There’s a change on the horizon concerning a new, young love interest for a certain young lady with the last name Jax. Rio Mangini, who recently came on the GH canvas as Josslyn’s (Eden McCoy) budding love interest, Oscar, will be recast, as the actor has landed a new Netflix series, according to his Twitter and Deadline Hollywood. He will star in the upcoming 10 episode, half-hour comedy Everything Sucks! which is set in mid-1990’s Oregon.

An Acting and Piano Prodigy

The series’ key players are members of an A/V and a drama club. Mangini has also starred in Bella and the Bulldogs as Ace and Teenwolf as Alex. A piece of trivia about the talented thespian: he’s also a classical pianist who’s tickled the ivories at the famed Carnegie Hall! We at Soap Cities wish Mangini best of luck in his new acting endeavor.

Also: Michael Easton penned a heartwarming goodbye to Rebecca Budig–also, sign the petition to keep her on the show.

Spencer Bids So Long, For Now

Meanwhile, another GH cast member leaving the canvas is Nicolas Bechtel (Spencer), though it seems that it’s only for now, according to his Twitter. His character has been front and center lately, as he showed up on Laura’s doorstep after running away from his French boarding school, intent on bringing Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) to justice by whatever it took, and however misguided! Bechtel’s been busy of late, also starring on Disney Channel’s Stuck in the Middle as Lewie Diaz. He also made an appearance in last year’s American Crime Story as a young Rob Kardashian.

  1. I just hope Nicholas keeps coming back for visits and doesn’t get SORAS’d. I enjoy his short visits, well, except for when he is totally obnoxious! Hope they don’t SORAS Brooklyn either.

As for Rio, MEH. He hasn’t been around long enough to make an impact and I FF most of Josslyn’s scenes anyway.

    • Thanks, SallyV for your comment! It sure will be interesting to see what’s in store for both characters.
