Days of Our Lives star Mary Beth Evans is set to receive a special honor by an organization that looks out for the welfare of children who are involved in the court system because of abusive or neglectful home lives.

Talented and Caring!

Evans has a busy schedule, being a mainstay in Salem and having had a long career in daytime, but that hasn’t stopped her from working with CASA to be a champion for children who may have no one else to speak up for their needs.

Thus, CASA is bestowing upon Evans a great honor indeed, the Robert Morrison Community Service Award, for her for four years of volunteer work with them, according to Soaps In Depth (SID).

CASA volunteers, like Evans (Kayla Johnson) support and speak up for the needs of children who are moving through the court system because of issues in their home lives.

“The National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, together with its state and local member programs, supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every abused or neglected child in the United States can be safe, have a permanent home and the opportunity to thrive,” reads CASA’s website.

How It Works and How Valued Evans Is!

“You are the impartial person who goes and interviews everybody and visits with the child,” Evans told Soaps In Depth. “I found with a teenaged boy I had, I was really the only person who knew him. The attorney assigned didn’t know him, the social worker knew who he was, but he’s not really even there, he just sends his report. So I went to every court date with him, and I was the only one that really knew anything about him.”

“We are lucky to have someone like Mary Beth Evans not only as an honoree but also as one of our most dedicated CASA volunteers,” CASA of Los Angeles CEO Wende Nichols-Julien told SID.
