Ron Carlivati, whose first episode of Days as Head Writer airs tomorrow!

Days of Our Lives Head Writer gave a lots of details on what fans can look forward to as his first Days episode airs tomorrow!

What’s At Stake

We at Soap Cities saw the magic that Ron Carlivati (RC) worked at General Hospital. That classic and now thriving soap was on the chopping block at ABC when Carlivati was hired to resuscitate it, he told Soap Opera Digest in its latest print issue. SOD is one of the few print soap publications around and where some good friends of ours work–thanks to them for this amazing interview!

Could Days of Our Lives also be at a critical point like GH was when RC took over as Head Writer. Even if so, have no fear fans, he is the Soap Saver! And here’s what he’s planning for Salem.

A Tonic of Iconic

What’s the number one cure for what ails a soap? Mining show history and focusing on classic characters that fans love.

Don’t Miss: Alison Sweeney took legal action against the man harassing her online.

To this end, Carlivati’s first episode will begin shifting the focus back heavily on John (Drake Hogestyn), Marlena (Diedre Hall), Steve (Stephen Nichols), and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). He’s also behind the return of Chandler Massey (ex-Will), Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady), and Eileen Davidson (ex-Kristen, et. al.). He hinted to SOD that Massey may NOT play Will Horton!

He also hopes to train the show’s focus on a Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abigail (Marci Miller) reuniion and telling Anjelica’s (Morgan Fairchild) comeback story.

Also: Chandler Massey teased his hot Days comeback storyline.

Fun-filled Whimsy

Carlivati is famous for stories full of magic and fancy–but ones that still ring true to the human experience. Given Days‘ history with such stories, portals to different dimensions, Satanic possession, etc., he said his Salem will feature an element of that, but won’t overemphasize it either.

Lots of Laughter

Carlivati pointed out that fans tune in for lighthearted stories as much as for serious ones. And this soap scribe has a way with funny stories, Days fans! He has tried and will try to make every episode entertaining, if not funny.

History and Less Mystery!

Carlivati got his soap writing start on One Life to Live, another show on which he worked his special brand of daytime magic.
