“A setside source tells soapcentral.com that the Emmy-winning actor will be returning to Y&R in the weeks ahead,” reported Soap Central.

The CBS sudser shocked fans and all of us here at Soap Cities when it announced in May that it would not renew Rikaart’s contract after 14 years.
It seems like we just got news of his exit, and now he’s coming back. That’s a fast news cycle we can get behind!

Rikaart took to social media soon after the news broke, opening up about his Genoa City exit.
“Playing Kevin and watching him evolve over the years has mirrored my real life in so many ways. We both found love, both became dads and we both have more gray hair now than we did in 2003,” the actor mused on Twitter and Instagram.
Rikaart took Kevin from sketchy con-artist to doting dad, no easy thespian feat, gaining a special place in Y&R fans’ hearts.

His legion of fans soon took up an soapy grass-roots campaign to convince Y&R to reverse its bizarre casting decision.
It looks like fans do matter in the soap world, right?

I am very happy that Kevin is comming back! I guess my question is why did young and restless chose not to renew his contract after fourteen years? He is a very talented actor I should think that they knew that any thoughts?

Also glad Kevin is coming back. Something was amiss about the non renewal of his contract though after 14 years of proven good work. There is another layer to all of this. Happy for him though.
I like Kevin n was upset he was leaving. Does that mean Chloe n Bella will return too. I hope so. They werent given enough time together az a family. Kevin is a great dad and glad he will be back. Soon i hope.
Greg Rikaart’s character, Kevin, is one of my favorites on the show. I was shocked to hear that his contract hadn’t been renewed and couldn’t be happier that decision has been reversed. I just hope to see Kevin get a juicer storyline so that Rikaart will be around for a long time to come. Y & R needs to stop losing good actors.
