Y&R and B&B fans take note! CBS is re-shuffling its daytime schedule in “light” of eclipse coverage!
A Rare Event
A total solar eclipse is a rare phenomenon, so news coverage of the event on Monday, August 21 will affect the airing of The Young and the Restless and The Bold and The Beautiful. CBS’s coverage begins at 1 p.m. ET until 3 p.m. ET. B&B fans will have to catch the soap at 12:30 p.m. ET. Of course you may live in a different time zone, so here’s the complete schedule for the show tomorrow, according to a CBS press release:
ET
12:30-1:00 B&B
CT
11:30-Noon B&B
PT
12:30-1:00 B&B
However, Genoa City fans, your soap will be back at its regular time on Tuesday. (Note to Days of Our Lives fans: you might be able to catch the soap if your local NBC affiliates choose to air it. If not, it should be available online or on demand.)
“Sunny” News for a Change (Pardon the Pun!)
We at Soap Cities fully understand when soap fans bristle at having their fave shows preempted. However, in light of the grim news that’s lately been saturating our airwaves, the eclipse is a kind of ray of sunshine, so to speak. (Okay, please pardon that pun!) The last total eclipse was back in 1979, and this one has surely generated a lot of buzz, with people traveling great distances to view it in totality. However, we at Soap Cities want our readers to be safe if viewing the eclipse, so click here for some helpful tips from none other than NASA!
Innovative Storyline
Tuesday, August 22 will be back to regular broadcasting for our soaps. However, perhaps our shows can take note and down the road incorporate an eclipse into the dramas that make our soaps worth watching. Now that would indeed be a unique, yet current, twist!
