Port Charles will soon see a new, mid-to-late-20’s African-American female character in town.
Casting Call
The soap issued a casting call for the new character, and it’s on a contract basis, according to our fab friends at Daytime Confidential. The role calls for the character to be “African-American, 24-29. Beautiful, dynamic, complex.”
A Port Charles Relation?
It’s anybody’s guess as to who this new addition to GH could be. She could be someone entirely new, or perhaps a relation to a character already on the canvas: Curtis (Donnell Turner), Jordan (Vinessa Antoine), Andre (Anthony Montgomery) Epiphany (Sonya Eddy), Felix (Marc Samuel), Valerie (Brytni Sarpi), nurse Deanna, and Aunt Stella (Vernee Watson) come to mind.

And let’s not forget Shawn (ex-Shawn Blakemore), who’s still languishing in prison for a being accused of shooting Hayden (Rebecca Budig), a crime he didn’t commit. Or, perhaps the writers are bringing back one of the Wards, who were related to Edward Quartermaine via his onetime mistress, Mary Mae.
Recall that in 2010 Mary Mae and Edward’s great-granddaughter, Maya (ex-Annie Ilonzeh), paid a brief visit to Port Charles for a medical internship. So, it’s quite possible that she could be returning or someone related to her could be headed to Port Chuck. The new character could also have a connection to any of the PC residents currently on the screen; perhaps an ex-wife, ex-girlfriend or friend.
Now that Andre and Jordan are no longer a couple, could this perhaps be a new pairing for the dashing psychiatrist? The possibilities are indeed intriguing.
Don’t Miss
Adding to the Mystery
What with the plethora of characters currently on the soap, we will just have to wait and see if this newbie figures into an existing storyline or is going to surprise us with something new. Stay tuned, and Soap Cities will bring you any new details that we get!
It Must Be Said
We are sure to love whoever this intriguing new face in two will be, especially with a new, promising head writing team at the helm of the ABC sudser. However, why let characters like fan fave actors like Rebecca Budig (Hayden Barnes) and Will deVry (Julian Jerome) go, only to bring on new ones?

It’s okay to bring on more Africans American but no need to send Rebecca Buding away she is good with Michael Easton.
Thanks for your comment, Debra. We know that there are many opinions on the topic of Budig’s departure and we appreciate yours. It will be interesting though to see what happens with the new character on the canvas!
