Three Women Costars Voice Support for GH Star Kimberly McCullough

Finola Hughes and Cady McClain were two of the daytime stars who had supportive words for Kimberly McCullough.

They expressed themselves briefly but powerfully in support of daytime icon and up-and-coming director, Kimberly McCullough

Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves

Remember that 1980s Annie Lennox tune? Well, they sure are in daytime!

Soap Cities recently reported on Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio Drake, General Hospital) achieving a great honor as woman director. She was selected to be among the first crop of young directors in a Directors Guild of America mentoring program for les mise-en-scene who want to go into episodic TV directing. And this isn’t McCullough’s first such honor. She was previously selected for an ABC program that allowed neophyte directors to shadow more experienced ones.

We Tweeted about our article and some daytime leading ladies responded with supportive Tweets of their own. See them all in full below.

Finola Hughes and Cady McClain, who wear director in addition to actor hats too, Tweet-exclaimed (we just made that word up) in support of McCullough. Hughes said, “Our girl!” That got us a little misty as she is, of course, Anna Devane, McCullough’s onscreen mom on GH. Vanessa Antoine (Jordan Ashford, GH) said simply, “Yes.” And we agree!

Don’t Miss: Roger Howarth’s contract talks hit a snag at the ABC sudser.

McClain’s response was particularly neat to see, as she is not only a fellow woman director, she has helmed several short films on “women in the directing profession,” as her professional website put it. Learn more about that project and see clips from it on that fab site!

McClain’s most fondly remembered among many daytime roles is that of Dixie Cooney on All My Children. McCullough appeared briefly on that ABC sudser as well.
