The Daytime Emmy winner A Martinez took to social media to thank his fans in the wake of the announcement of his departure from Days of Our Lives.
A Heartfelt Farewell
Daytime Emmy Winner A Martinez is leaving his role as Eduardo this month on Days of Our Lives. He posted a farewell message on Thursday on his Facebook page that expressed his thanks to all who supported him and the character during his 18-month stint. He also detailed how he enjoyed playing the character and even expressed his admiration for Eduardo.
“The work itself has been a consistent pleasure, partly because of the deliciously wounded guy I‘ve been playing, but mostly because of the multitude of excellent people who pass their days in the ongoing labor of love that is the making of this beloved show,” Martinez said in the lengthy, almost lyrical post.
He also said he never thought of Eduardo as a villain, and never intended to play him that way. Perhaps most significantly for fans of the Hernandez patriarch and Martinez, the actor pointed out Eduardo isn’t dead. Does that mean we could see him back in Salem sometime? We’re guessing “yes,” here at Soap Cities. While the new head writing regime make adjustments, perhaps it’s necessary for some characters to take a step back, only to return once things are settled. Hey, it’s happened on Days before, with Belle (Martha Madison), Lani (Sal Stowers), and others.
No Stranger to Soaps, the Big and Small Screens
Martinez has been a soap mainstay over the years with his Daytime Emmy winning role as Cruz Castillo on Santa Barbara, as well as roles on One Life to Live, The Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital. Martinez also has a very impressive resume in primetime and feature films. We are certain that we will be seeing him grace our screens again very soon!
