An annual basketball tournament will override airings of Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless on CBS later this week.

Mad March Interruptions

B&B and Y&R won’t be seen on CBS Thursday, March 16th, and Friday, March 17th due to the network’s covering of the annual NCAA March Madness basketball tournament.

“Every year, the CBS soaps are preempted for the college basketball tournament, so viewers should brace themselves for some big cliffhangers on Wednesday, before the action picks up on Monday, March 20th!” reported Soaps In Depth.

On the Bright Side

Because these preemptions occur each year, the shows have planned episodes accordingly. That means we fans won’t experience disorienting gaps in episode continuity or airing of episodes at different times. These can wreak havoc on DVR recordings, not to mention viewers’ full understanding of the daytime drama we love!

Also, a little break can be a good thing, in some ways. It gives us a chance to catch up on episodes we may be behind on, and it makes it all the more exciting when we rejoin our soap families upon the shows airing again.

There’s certainly a lot of CBS drama to wrap our heads around these days. On B&B Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Liam (Scott Clifton) are set to tie the knot in Australia, while Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Quinn’s (Rena Sofer) could blow wide open any day.

Meanwhile, on Y&R, Ravi (Abhi Sinha) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) have been making googly eyes at each other, while Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Lily (Christel Khalil) are embroiled in personal and professional dramas of their own.
