Finally, some Port Charles best legal eagles get to spread their wings and soar! It’s a sight we’ve been missing since Alexis has been unable to litigate. And it’s thanks in large part to daytime vet, Hillary B. Smith.
A Fight On Her Hands
In a video posted to abc.go.com of one of One Life to Live core character Nora Buchanan’s first scenes as a resident of Port Charles, we get to see some of the entertaining sparring that Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) and Nora Buchanan (Hillary B. Smith) will partake in starting Monday, March 6th.
As Diane gets a dose of caffeine to prepare to go up against a Llanview, Pennsylvania lawyer whose amazing reputation precedes her, she makes small talk about it with a stranger at the Metro Court. She doesn’t know the stranger is Nora, the very lawyer she’ll be on the opposite side of in court later that day. See the full video below, as well as another ABC promo video about Smith’s appearing on GH.
“It looks like Nora’s got a fight on her hand,” Nora says, playfully, still not revealing who she is.
It also looks like we’re in from some juicy, dramatic, and plain ol’ entertaining courtroom tussling coming up this week on General Hospital!
An Homage to OLTL Fans From Frank Valentini
GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini took to Twitter on January 31st to let fans know Nora Gannon (Hillary B. Smith), the iconic Llanview staple, town go-to lawyer, and wife of legacy character Bo Buchanan, will appear in Port Charles! You can see his Tweet below too.
As the custody battle for Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) approaches, Laura (Genie Francis) and Lulu (Emme Rylan) look on with a mixture of contentment and excitement as Diane (Carolyn Hennessy) tells them she’d like to introduce them to her friend, Nora–once she figures out it’s her!
A Beloved Fan Fave
Smith gained a legion of devoted fans for her portrayal of Llanview heroine Nora Gannon for 21 years. She won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1994 for the role.
She also played Margo Hughes on As the World Turns and Dr. Stacy Barton on Bold and the Beautiful.
Soap Cities thanks ABC, Frank Valentini, Shelly Altman, Jean Passanante, and any others who helped Smith’s GH role come to fruition. We look forward to seeing more OLTL and AMC faves there in advance of those shows being rebooted.
