The actor who originated the character of Brady Black on Days of Our Lives stars in a new role that will delight daytime fans for two important reasons.
Representing for a Doctor–But Not That Kind
Lowder plays CraveRider, an overbearing and over-the-top action hero in spots for soft drink Dr. Pepper.
“CraveRider, a souped-up Dr. Pepper delivery guy, steers his jet ski through people’s homes and other unexpected locations,” reported Ad Week Monday.

In addition to being Salem’s first Brady, Lowder played Rick on Bold and the Beautiful.
An Homage to the Pro-Wrestling/Soaps Connection
If you’re a passionate soap fan, you may also be a devotee of pro-wrestling. Soap Cities reported on Impact Wrestling star Jessie Godderz’s starring role in web serial Tainted Dreams (TD). We told of TD’s Executive Producer, Sonia Blangiardo, who said soaps and pro-wrestling share an important commonality. They both feature compelling personalities that fans bond with over long periods.
One such personality is Ric Flair, the WWE star who CraveRider’s blonde tresses harken back to, reported Michael Fairman. But Lowder’s CraveRider also gently lampoons the endearing bluster and chest-thumping of many pro-wrestlers, in a sort of wacky amalgam of them.
CraveRider “channels the manically manly commercial personas perfected through the years by Terry Crews, Ric Flair and Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage, among others,” reported Ad Week.
This could be some genius marketing on the part of the Deutsch Company, which devised Dr. Pepper’s latest ad campaign. Though the company’s creative director, Ryan Lehr, told Ad Week Lowder was cast for reasons unrelated to his daytime pedigree, we have our suspicions. When you put the CraveRider nod to pro-wrestling in the equation, it seems like a little-too-perfect of a storm not to be directed partially at soap fans.
And Yet Another Daytime Connection
Lowder was married to Salem star Arianne Zucker from 2002 to 2014, with a short break-up in the middle of their union. They have a daughter, Isabella Reese Lowder.
