Arianne Zucker Says Special Goodbye to Fans

Arianne Zucker is grateful to all of Nicole’s fans, and even her detractors.

Days star Arianne Zucker took to her official blog to let fans know she’d be leaving the show–weeks before the news broke in the press! And since the grass doesn’t grow under her feet, she’s already working on a new project.

Different Days, Different Ways

Yesterday Zucker (Nicole Walker) Tweeted a thank you to Soap Opera Digest (SOD) for  reporting the story of her departure and interviewing her about it. You can catch that story in the latest print edition of the magazine on newsstands now. It came out last Thursday.

Zucker also directed fans to her personal blog to read a message she penned just for them. That blog entry is dated February 17th, and she Tweeted about it Monday, March 6th. See that and another exciting one below. See her full blog message below.

Dreams, Then and Now

“I have had such beautiful support from all of you who have loved to hate Nicole and then love her again. Nicole has been through a life not fully rewarded by some of your standards, but I have also been able to connect with you on personal levels,” Zucker wrote on her blog.

When she and her brother were young, Zucker would listen to the Van Halen song, “Dreams,” and feel the freedom of knowing her future was waiting for her to discover it, to pursue her dreams.

Now, she says, that song still inspires her.

Zucker doesn’t intend to renew her contract when it expires in late April.

“I will see you all in other places as other characters, and I am excited for my journey,” the actress wrote on her blog.

Soaps Are Eternal, So Nicole Could Be Too

“Although nothing is ever permanent and I never like to say never, it is bye for now,” Zucker said.

In a blog post dated more than a month before the one announcing her departure mentioned above, Zucker said, “Now that the New Year has begun, it is time to make a move forward.” Foreshadowing–how soap star-ish of her!

Lights, Camera, Ari!

In her SOD interview about her decision to leave, Zucker spoke of how she already has a movie gig lined up. She Tweeted about that too, Tuesday, March 7th.

Ari’s Full Blog Post:

“I love that song. When my brother Todd and I were teenagers we used to go house boating with my parents and friends in Lake Powell, Arizona. For about 12 summers of my life my brother and I had the most incredible time on this lake and grew an amazing bond. When I was about 14 I can remember my big brother taking me out on our dad’s boat. He would put the cassette tape of Van Halen 5150 in the player and we would take off during sunset when the water was glass, with the wind in our hair blasting “Dreams”. Inspired to be whatever we wanted in that moment. It is one of the most freeing memories of my young life.

I tell you this story because I have recently felt that feeling again. Only slightly different in this time of my life. I’m older, I don’t have a boat and my brother and I live in two different states, but I still have a dream. Ha! Like Sammy Hagar sings:

Reach for the golden ring
Reach for the sky
Baby just spread your wings

We’ll get higher and higher
Straight up we’ll climb
We’ll get higher and higher
Leave it all behind

After 18 years of an incredible run as Nicole Walker on Days of Our Lives, I will not be returning this contract year. I have had such beautiful support from all of you who have loved to hate Nicole and then love her again. Nicole has been through a life not fully rewarded by some of your standards, but I have also been able to connect with you on personal levels. Although nothing is ever permanent and I never like to say never, it is bye for now. I will see you all in other places as other characters and I am excited for my journey. I leave you for now with the “Dreams” (Blue Angels) video to inspire YOUR dreams. Thank you Van Halen and Sammy for helping me fulfill my dreams.”
