“The Young and the Restless (Y&R) Executive Producer Mal Young spoke about what we can expect for the budding pairing of Nick (Joshua Morrow) & Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) during February Sweeps!
Nick/Chelsea: “Nick and Chelsea are incredibly comfortable around one another. There will be an interesting reaction from someone in Nick’s family as the dynamics of Nick and Chelsea’s relationship change.” Young told “Soap Opera Digest” (SOD) in its latest print issue.
We at Soap Cities believe Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) himself will be the one to have an “interesting reaction!” Why, you say? Because Victor has made it a point to express how he misses Adam and include Chelsea at Newman family functions at every opportunity! It would just make sense to have a Chick union because not only could Nick be a father to his nephew Connor but Chelsea could also be a mother figure to Nick’s baby Christian (aka Sully). Of course, Christian is actually Adam’s son with Sage but we will save that for another place and time! So why not consolidate and unify the Adam and Nick Newman families?!
Young also talked about Chelsea taking up with her former brother-in-law in the January 23 issue of “CBS Soaps In Depth.” “Nick and Chelsea have a very special connection, but secrets and misread intentions can change even the closets of friends for better or worse. Nick and Chelsea are aware of their chemistry–we will have to wait and see what they do with their chemistry!”
The seeds of the coupling started back on New Year’s Eve when Nick and Chelsea spent a quiet evening at home on the Newman Ranch instead of attending The Abbott-Winters Foundation at The Top of The Tower. When Nick and Chelsea kissed before the stroke of midnight, Chelsea pulled back first, reminding Nick that they were better off as friends. Nick reluctantly agreed, but you could see the disappointment in his eyes. Chelsea then abruptly left with Connor, and Nick ended up ringing the New Year alone with Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind), watching the ball drop on TV. Just like us, both Nick and Chelsea are extremely self-aware of their sizzling chemistry!
