Daytime vet and fan favorite Tonja Walker posted a video to her Facebook page thanking fans, Frank Valentini, the writers at “General Hospital” (GH) and God for bringing her back to General Hospital after 26 years.
We at Soap Cities are big Walker fans too, so we extend our thanks to the all those people as well.
On Her Way to the GH Set, Walker Takes a Moment
Walker is effusive in the video in expressing her joy and gratitude at being back at GH.
“It’s amazing, really amazing,” the talented thespian says. Whether it turns into something long-term or not, she says she is simply grateful for the “amazing opportunity.” She repeatedly stresses her appreciation for her fans’ continually clamoring for her return to GH.
Recently, news broke that Walker had inked a deal for a role on “General Hospital.” She will return to the show after a decades-long hiatus.
Walker’s Storied Past
Previously she played fearsome mobster Olivia Jerome, sister of her equally fearsome mobster family members Julian (William DeVry) and Ava Jerome (Maura West). GH has not yet confirmed what role Walker will play on GH, but eager soap fans have been speculating just what Walker’s character will be up to upon her return to Port Charles.
The most obvious role she might play would be, of course, Olivia Jerome. Olivia could be the body behind the impeccably dressed hands we keep seeing in the back of Rudge’s pawn shop. Others have said that Jerome might play the role that has become synonymous with her name, Alex Olanov Hesser from “One Life to Live” (OLTL) With GH executive producer Frank Valentini’s love of brining characters and actors from OLTL to GH, who knows!
Walker’s memorable daytime resume also includes roles on “Guiding Light” and “Passions.”
The Future’s a (Wonderful) Mystery
“I’ll keep you posted,” Walker says of her future at GH. And so will we here at Soap Cities, so keep checking back for updates on what’s to come for Walker on the ABC soap.
