Eddie Alderson is undergoing a new type of treatment in his battle with cancer.
As He Said, Bring It On
The young actor took to Instagram to share the latest in his continuing journey to rid himself of cancer, which seems to be going great.
Wow! Talk about an inspiration. We at Soap Cities might just borrow that quote for our vision boards!
About Stem Cell Therapy for Cancer
“In a typical stem cell transplant for cancer very high doses of chemo are used, sometimes along with radiation therapy, to try to kill all the cancer cells,” reported the American Cancer Society (ACS).
Then doctors inject the patient’s or another person’s stem cells to replace the ones that were killed with chemo and radiation.
“Over time they settle in the bone marrow and begin to grow and make healthy blood cells. This process is called engraftment,” according to the ACS
A Soapy Family!
Alderson appeared on OLTL with his sister, Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr Manning). When ABC canceled OLTL, we unfortunately didn’t see much more of him. That includes when the ABC sudser moved to its online home at TheOnlineNetwork, a Prospect Park production. Kristen, though, appeared as both Starr Manning and Kiki Jerome on General Hospital after OLTL got the axe.
Alderson was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for his work as Matthew.
