OLTL Icon James DePaiva Headed to General Hospital

James DePaiva of One Life to Live and soon to be General Hospital.

James DePaiva, who played Llanview hero Max Holden on One Life to Live, is set to star on General Hospital.

Unsafe Space!

GH Executive Producer Frank Carlivati made the announcement about DePaiva’s exciting old/new role in  a coy video posted to the show’s official Facebook page. See it in full below. Also, you can see his post about his new gig.

A Facebook follower made a testy comment that DePaiva responded to, cool as a cucumber. He noted that he’s not going to GH to steal the spotlight from any characters, but to add some new wrinkles to existing stories.

Related: AMC icon Jennifer Bassey is headed to Port Charles too.

In it, Carlivati says, “Hey, GH fans. Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the hospital…” and points to a man reading a chart at the Nurse’s Station. Just then the man takes off his reading glasses and looks up. It’s James DePaiva!

To Max or Not To Max

The video makes no indication of who DePaiva will play on the ABC sudser. Will it be the iconic OLTL role he played for 15 years, or an altogether new Port Chalres role.

Also: AMC and OLTL are alive in Port Charles.

We at Soap Cities think it just might be Max, given that ABC has spoken of its intention to crossover OLTL and All My Children characters on GH now that it has the rights to AMC and OLTL back.

Will Max, the one-time Llanview hotelier and owner of Holden Towers, spearhead the arrival of a competitor for the Metro Court in Port Charles? Could he also be a love interest for Carly? What do you think, dear readers?
