Days of Our Lives incoming Head Writer Ron Carlivati dished on his still-new job and getting started in the soap industry.

Like Sands Through the Hourglass Six Months In Advance!

So are the months of Carlivati’s job! The seasoned soap scribe said it was “crazy” that he’s written over six months of material for the show, and it has yet to air.

“I started [working at Days of Our Lives] in January, which is crazy because nothing I’ve written has been on the air yet,” Carlivati told The Hamptonite. “They film six months ahead. My first episode airs in four weeks.

Reaching for the Soap Scribe Stars

Carlivati went to law school, with the intent of, of course, becoming a lawyer. The success of one of his professors, uber-best-selling author David Baldacci, inspired him to pursue another dream–writing for daytime!

“I told everyone I talked to that I wanted to be a soap writer and that my dream show was One Life to Live. Then, I went out for a friend’s birthday and a guy overheard a friend and I talking and he said, ‘Oh, my friend works for a soap opera, One Life to Live, as a writers’ assistant.’”

The rest, as they say, is soap history.

Talk About Achieving Your Goals!

As many daytime fans know Carlivati went on to the position of Head Writer at One Life to Live, then General Hospital, and now, of course Days of Our Lives.
