Y&R will be on our screens for a long time to come!

We have some good news for Y&R (The Young and the Restless) fans!!

CBS Daytime Renews Y&R for 3 Years!

You read right, our dear Soap Cities readers!  CBS, the #1 rated daytime network for 30 years, has renewed Y&R for a whopping three years!!

The #1 daytime drama for 28 years in a row, Y&R has an average viewing audience of 4.93 million!

CBS Daytime Executive Vice President Angelica McDaniel said “CBS Daytime has never been stronger.  From 30 consecutive years of being #1 in the ratings, to another year as the most honored Network at the Daytime Emmys, our lineup of talk, game shows and dramas connects with our audience like no one else.”

Related: Y&R star Eileen Davidson is set to restart her soap double duty with a role on Days of Our Lives.

McDaniel went on to say, “all our talent, on screen and behind the scenes, is hard at work making the upcoming season of these award-winning series even bigger and bolder.”

The hour-long show is steeped in rich soap history.  It still has many long time veterans with a mix of new legacy characters to make compelling drama.

Sister Soap B&B Also Renewed for another year!

More good news dear readers:  CBS Daytime also renewed B&B (The Bold and The Beautiful) for another year!

Currently the #2 daytime drama across the board, B&B‘s renewal comes on the heel of celebrating its 30th Anniversary!

The only half-hour show in the daytime landscape, B&B has an average viewing audience of 3.94 million!  Let’s not forget the show is honored annually in Monte Carlo for being the “most watched daytime serial in the world!”

Both daytime dramas, aka soap operas, take the #1 and #2 slot across the daytime viewing landscape, which is no easy feat in today’s world, with fickle viewing habits and thousands of choices viewing options!

It’s also a note of interest that both soaps were created by the Bell family, with William Bradley’s son Bradley Bell executive producing and head writing B&B.  Y&R is both exec-produced and written by Mal Young and Sally Sussman.
