Why TV Guide Gave a Jeers to This Year’s Daytime Emmys–And We Agree!

TV Guide expressed displeasure at the state of the 2017 Daytime Emmys.

In its “Cheers and Jeers” column, a classic among TV aficionados, TV Guide gave this year’s 2017 Daytime Emmys its stamp of disapproval.

Step Up, Networks!

TV Guide notes in a recent “Cheers and Jeers” column what so many soap fans have been thinking. It’s jeer-worthy that one of the networks couldn’t find time in their Sunday’s–or any other day’s schedule–to air the Daytime Emmys, an event near and dear to the hearts of so many soap opera fans.

This is an especially true when ABC and CBS in particular came out big winners in the Daytime Emmys, thanks in large part to the daytime serials they air. All we deserve is a live stream on Facebook, interrupted often by Internet signal spottiness?

And That’s Not All

Don’t Miss: Rena Sofer’s B&B colleagues were shocked by her Emmy snub.

A TV Guide reader then wrote in to the magazine to support its disapproval of the networks’ shunning of the Daytime Emmys.

“Shame on the networks,” Thelma Driscoll wrote. “They find time and space for little known music awards shows but can’t find three hours a year to broadcast the Daytime Emmys. The daytime viewers should be treated better.”

Well, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves, Ms. Thelma Driscoll and TV Guide.
