The fan favorite, who has played Kevin Fisher for over a decade, is on his way out of Genoa City.

Out of Nowhere Much?

“TVLine has learned exclusively that Daytime Emmy winner Greg Rikaart—who has played reformed perp Kevin Fisher on TV’s No. 1 soap for the past 14 years—will exit the CBS sudser later this summer. Although reps for Y&R and Rikaart declined to comment, sources confirm that The Powers That Be opted not to renew Rikaart’s contract,” reported TV Line.

Uh…ok. Let us at Soap Cities just pick up our eyeballs and put them back in our heads again–one minute. Right, dear readers?

Important Points

Rikaart’s last episode will air in August sometime. Also, Y&R Executive Producer Mal Young and Head Writer Sally Sussman will not kill Kevin off. Of course, this is a soap–even when a character is killed off, they can always come back.

So, perhaps Kevin will leave Genoa City with Bella to start a new life. What do you think, readers? And how do you feel about not seeing Rikaart on our screens five days-a-week, at least for now?

We sure have come to love Kevin, and we’ve relished the idea that he’d be navigating life as a father. Well–perhaps in the future. After all, here’s no such thing as “forever” in daytime!
