One of the most captivating presences on The Young and the Restless, Stacy Haiduk, talked about being a Daytime Emmy nominee this year. and lots more!

Working Out and Finding Out

Haiduk was happily surprised by the news of her first nomination for a Daytime Emmy, for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, she told Laurie Baker of OutTakes Interviews. Hear the full audio below.

The actress recalled that the Daytime Emmy noms had generally been made known in the morning in the past, so when she didn’t hear anything the morning they were being announced she assumed she hadn’t made the cut this year.

“I thought, ‘I’m going to go to the gym, so that I can get past it and move on’,” Haiduk said. While working out, she got a call from Y&R‘s publicist informing her of the exciting news that she’d been nominated.

All Dressed Up and Somewhere Fab to Go

Haiduk said she likes to ensure that whatever she wears to the Daytime Emmys fits her and her personality. Generally, then, she forgoes the choices of stylists and dressers.

“I like to go out to vintage stores and find something that I want to wear,” said Haiduk.

She noted that it’s always a lot of fun to get dressed up and attend the ceremonies.

All Things Y&R

When asked why she thinks Y&R has remained number one in the ratings for so many years, Haiduk had one word in mind: consistency. Though there have been a lot of changes over the years, the writers function from a consistent Genoa City baseline, particularly in the case of the actors working on the show, she noted.

“The whole package,” she added, “From the people working behind the booth, to the directors, to the actors.”

Her two favorite leading men to play alongside? Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) and Doug Davidson (Paul Williams).

Haiduk’s favorite thing about playing Patty is the wonderful duality she contains.

“There’s an innocence about her, but she’s also very bright,” Haiduk said.
