Vote in our Poll: Friz–Sizzle or Fizzle–Do You Like Franco and Elizabeth Together?

Rebecca Herbst and Roger Howarth as Elizabeth Webber and Franco Baldwin on General Hospital.

Franco and Elizabeth, Friz, are General Hospital‘s most unexpected couple of the year, we must say! Roger Howarth and Rebecca Herbst do a great job as these characters. But fans have strong opinions about their pairing. What do you think?

An Unusual History, to Say the Least

Franco (Roger Howarth) came back to Port Charles a couple years ago, and he soon became a changed man.

He was diagnosed with a brain tumor that GH doctors deemed had affected his personality, causing him to do all the horrible things he had in the past–multiple murders, messing with people’s minds, making Sam think she’d been raped, etc. He got together with Nina (Michelle Stafford), but that was a bust, as he didn’t share her vision for a life with children of their own to raise together.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) was going through her own drama. She was in a bizarre relationship with “Jake Doe” (Billy Miller), because she knew he was really Jason, but he didn’t, and she kept it from him. When the truth came out, she became the town pariah.

Their shared outsider statuses gave these two something in common, and they became friends, then more. Elizabeth believed in Franco’s transformation, loved that he loves her kids (especially Jake [Hudson West]), and feels safe with him. Franco simply worships Elizabeth and would do anything to protect her and prove his love.

Divided Opinion

Now, some of you GH fans understandably find it downright creepy that these two are a couple, seeing them be intimate and share a home, even, at times. This is understandable. You hate these two together!

Others of you love this story of change and forgiveness. You think these two are a couple of strong, wonderful souls who have found the person who understands them best. You love them together!

Then some of you probably just don’t care either way. You’d rather see other storylines pursued than the Friz relationship.

All of you, dear Soap Cities readers, please cast a vote in our poll on Franco and Liz below!

  1. Sorry, but I will never ‘like’ Franco with Elizabeth! But then I will never really like Franco, the most ill-conceived re-casting ever! That, to me, is the worst mistake RC made on the show.

They kind of give me the creeps, even though I do support unorthodox pairings and storylines.

  2. i thought i’d never really like franco either

    but they make it work

i am so bored with jason that i never want to see them together again….he and sam as far as i’m concerned deserve one another and then some…

if he will not do anything about jake, but yet no one else can….then to me franco is his real father and not jason…..when it’s convenient for him….or lucky even though he’s away is more or a father to him then jason….so….

  3. The Franco/Elizabeth pairing is one of the most refreshing aspects of the current entire GH storylines. The two actors have wonderfully quirky chemistry together and their union is a masterful example of “anything is possible”. Additionally, I find Jason’s contention with Franco’s involvement with Elizabeth and Jake a fitting exposure of Jason’s/Sam’s self-righteousness as well as their annoying blandness.

    • I completely agree with you Stephen P. Liz has never been this open with anyone, not even Jason. Franco truly loves her and she him. They have so much on screen chemistry; therefore, I am rooting for this couple all the way!

  4. The slow build up of the Franco and Elizabeth is amazing. At first, I was like no way, Elizabeth will not fall for Franco. The writers took their time and it has paid off. Franco puts Elizabeth first and that’s a big change from the rest of her relationships. They are opposites but it works.

Roger Howarth and Rebecca Herbst have great chemistry. I love the relationship because we get to see Rebecca play comedy, as well as drama. The looks these two give each other, well it’s what soaps are all about. The best soap couples are the ones that you didn’t ever think would happen. Kudos to Roger and Rebecca for making these two characters come alive!

By the way if you can’t tell, I love Franco and Elizabeth together. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

  5. It’s about time that soaps broke out of the boring same old routine. I think General Hospital has finally been resuscitated with these new writers. Creative couples that you think shouldn’t work are magnificently complicated and oh wo addicting. Franco and Liz have witty repartee, sizzling hot chemistry and truly unique stories. I love them and am looking forward to other unique pairings and stories. Valntin and Anna? Ava and Griffin? This is a shakeup that takes you out of the pedestrian stories seen on daytime. Do Franco and Liz have messy histories, you bet! It’s fiction and everyone does but their chemistry and history has the potential for great future stories. Loving every bit of this couple.

  6. I’ve always liked Roger Howarth since he was Todd Manning at OLTL, want him to stay around, but I’ve never liked smarmy Elizabeth and never will. I’d rather see Franco reunite with Nina now that she’s ditching Valentin. BTW please visit me on Facebook.
