Mark Consuelos, who played Mateo Santos on All My Children, is set to take on a pivotal role on the CW’s TV series based on the Archie comics, Riverdale.

A Complicated Man

In Riverdale’s second season, Consuelos will play Veronica Lodge’s (Camila Mendes) father, Hiram.

“Hiram Lodge, per the show’s official description, is ‘a ruthless, handsome, charismatic businessman who is coming back to Riverdale after weathering a financial scandal that almost destroyed him. He is there to reconnect with his wife Hermione and, especially, his daughter Veronica, who is the apple of his eye,'” reported tvline.com.

Up to this point, Hiram has been in jail in advance of the start of the trial that would determine whether he orchestrated a Ponzi scheme that bilked investors out of their money. Apparently, he extricates himself from suspicion and returns to Riverdale.

A Full Plate

Consuleos also stars on Pitch, the Fox channel’s baseball-based drama. That show’s future is up in the air, but if it’s renewed for a second season, Consuelos wouldn’t be able to play Hiram on Riverdale as well, according to tvline.com.

On top of that, he has a “major, recurring” role on NBC’s The Night Shift, also according to tvline.

Wait–there’s more. He also serves as co-president of production company Milojo productions, which has at least one project underway as well, a reality series for Logo network.

It sounds like Consuelos likes to stay busy, much like his wife, Kelly Ripa (Hayley Santos, AMC).

Those two are married in real life and share three children, Michael, Lola, and Joaquin.
