RUMOR ALERT: Elizabeth Hendrickson Set to Leave Y&R?

Many signs point to yes, but the show has yet to issue an official statement on the future of fan fave Elizabeth Hendrickson as Chloe Mitchell.

Contract Complications

“I’m hearing from multiple sources the All My Children alum is no longer on contract at Y&R,” reported Jamey Giddens of Daytime Confidential.

The show provided little confirmation in a typically terse and guarded response: “We do not comment on actor contracts.”

“Elizabeth only signed on for a year. She’s still there through spring and could stick around on recurring,” Giddens quotes “an insider” as saying.

We’re Left to Wonder

Since Chloe came back to Genoa City and played both sides of a dangerous field, we at Soap Cities have wondered where her story could or would go. On the one hand she was repairing and reigniting old relationships, particularly with Kevin (Greg Rikaart) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). Om the other hand, she was behaving like an unhinged, revenge-obsessed villainess. She drugged Adam before the cabin she had him trapped in blew up, destroying several lives in Genoa City, ones that are only now beginning to heal.

Chloe’s comeback was classic ex-Head Writer Chuck Pratt material. It reminded us of Kimberly’s (Marcia Cross) retribution-based comebacks that ended in explosions and general mayhem on the Pratt-helmed Melrose Place, which we loved.

New Writers, New Directions

Pratt’s storytelling philosophies don’t seem to work in daytime, so we rejoiced at the return of Y&R head writer Sally Sussman, Kay Alden, and Sara Bibel.

Now we have Genoa City classic characters like Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and Jill (Jess Walton) in substantive, sustained storylines that make sense.

Will Chloe get one too? Or will she leave when her contract is up? Check back with Soap Cities for the latest on this evolving story. We’re rootin’ for ya’ Elizabeth! We love Hendrickson’s sprightly, complicated Chloe and the warm, if complicated, energy she brings to Genoa City

We hope the writers at Y&R can find a way to redeem Chloe and keep Hendrickson on contract. What do you think, dear Soap Cities readers?

  1. I really don’t care one way or another if Chloe goes.
I think they ruined her character from the beginning of her last return.
She has never paid for what she did to Adam, and Chelsea for that matter.
She also needs to fess up that her daughter is (hopefully) Billy’s child.
