Kirsten Storms Takes GH Break–Again

Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) of General Hospital.

General Hospital fan fave Kirsten Storms is taking some time off from life in Port Charles.

Demanding Schedules Demand a Break

“I can confirm Storms is taking a break from the series for personal reasons,” reported Jamey Giddens of Daytime Confidential.

He cited a source whose words should quell the fears of any Maxie fans who worry her break will turn into a more permanent absence.

“Kirsten is still very much a part of the GH cast,” says an insider. “She’s just taking some time off.”

Storms left the role of Maxie for just under a year in 2011, with Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa Donovan, Days of Our Lives) taking over her role for that time. Last year Storms also took time off, and Molly Burnett (ex-Melanie Jonas, Days of Our Lives) took over for her.

We’re not surprised that soap stars, like Storms, sometimes need breaks from the rigors of learning and taping dozens of pages of dialogue every day.

We’ll See Ya’ Soon, Kirsten

We at Soap Cities thought news about a break for Storms might be coming, as her on-screen beau, Ryan Paevey, is taking a break these days too. These two have become so much a pair, it’s hard to imagine one without the other!

Earlier this week, we reported that ABC exec Nathan Varni, in a recent visit to podcast Daytime After Dark, said there is a future for Naxie. However, he couldn’t get into too much detail because of “personal reasons.”

We’ve been loving Maxie’s storylines lately. She’s always brought an irreverent whimsy to the role of Maxie, one that might be more tortured in the hands of another actor, given Maxie’s tumultuous past. And lately Storms has really been showcasing her comedic talents, and that’s been a true joy to watch.

Remember how funny she made being trapped in a shady doctor’s office with Lulu (Emme Rylan)? Or Maxie’s narcoleptic fits on her wedding day after a medication mix-up?

We look forward to seeing Storms–and Paevey–back in Port Charles soon!
