Does Thorsten Kaye’s Ridge Have a Limited Shelf Life on B&B?

Thorsten Kaye dished on a host of fascinating topics relating to his career past, present, and even future.

Tomorrow’s a Mystery

Kaye told Michael Fairman that commuting from NYC to LA, splitting time between his family’s home base on the East coast and Bold and the Beautiful on the West coast, isn’t easy.

“Unfortunately I don’t think that can last forever. I’m just too old,” Kaye said.

He lamented that his daughters are growing up fast. He and ex-One Life to Live costar Susan Haskell (Marty Saybrooke) are parents to McKenna, 14, and Marlowe, 9.

“We miss our family time together, and every time we turn around our kids are getting older. And that’s unfortunate,” Kaye said.

Don’t Feel Too Sorry For Him, Though

Kaye noted some of the fabulous things about working at B&B as well.

He had high praise for his costars, especially Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan).

“She always gives 100 percent, and I know that is a cliché, but it’s true,” the actor said.

On the most controversial of his on-screen pairings, that of Ridge and Quinn (Rena Sofer) he tended to agree with fans who wonder what those two are thinking.

“There is a lot of, ‘What is going on?’ still. Sometimes, I am missing the why, and you kind of have to make that up,” Kaye said.

Sofer makes it easy though, he added, saying simply, “She’s hot!”

Kaye also said he loves working with John McCook, and cherishes their after-hours cocktail time in McCook’s dressing room.

All My Memories

Kaye, as All My Children (AMC) fans know, played the dashing Zach Slater on that ABC sudser. There he gained a great respect and admiration for show creator and daytime legend, Agnes Nixon.

“I had a great relationship with her, and she was such a smart lady,” Kaye said of Nixon.

Kaye said another one of his AMC favorite costars, Eileen Herlie (Myrtle Fargate) was from an era he wished he could have been from–the Golden Age of Hollywood. He lauded Herlie’s “ability to tell a story.”
