Yes, Days of Our Lives Fans, there’s more turmoil in Salem–well, off-set.

Goodbye, For Now

A Martinez will wrap his run as Eduardo Hernandez on Days in April, according to Days guru Jason47 via this week’s soon to be on newsstands Soap Opera Digest.

Martinez’s departure comes on the heels of the announcement of two other shocking Days actors’ exits from the show, that of Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker) and Vincent Irizarry (Deimos Kiriakis).

A rumor about Martinez’s departure has been making the rounds in the soap community for a while, but now it’s official.

Eduardo will be arrested in early April, leading to his eventually leaving Salem

Never Say Goodbye

Honestly, Days fans, don’t get too upset. The soap world is famous for its comebacks, which can be as unexpected and welcome as its departures are unexpected and unwelcome. So let’s not assume we’ve seen the last of the Hernandez patriarch. His whole family is still in Salem! They’ll be angry he’s leaving, no doubt, but will also want him back. And that would make for great story!

Martinez is near and dear to many soap fans’ hearts, having appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and One Life to Live as well as Days. But perhaps no role of Martinez’s is as well-known and beloved as that of Cruz Castillo on Santa Barbara. He and Marcy Walker’s Eden Capwell will go down in soap history as one of THE soap super couples of all time!
