Soap Vet Jay Bontatibus Passes Away

The soap community mourned the loss of an accomplished soap actor this week.

A Seasoned Soap Star

Jay Bontatibus died of cancer Sunday, having fought a prolonged battle with cancer, according to Soap Opera Digest.

Soap fans know him best from his work as Tony Viscardi on “The Young and the Restless.” He also played Andy Capelli on both “General Hospital” and “Port Charles.”

He also had a guest starring role on “Days of Our Lives” (Days).

Another Soap World Connection

Bontatibus was also divorced from Days’ casting director Marnie Saitta.

Upon his passing, the actor’s loved ones were with him. They were grateful for the outpouring of support from Bontatibus’ fans.

Bontatibus was 52.

  1. I will no longer be watching Y & R do to the fact that Adam ( Michael Muhney) will not be coming back and Chelsea is leaving. I was only watching waiting for his return.
