Now we know when you’ll see evidence of that Ron Carlivati writerly magic.

It looks like new head writer Ron Carlivati got to work right after “Days of Our Lives” announced Dena Higley was fired and he was hired in her place.

That Infamous Six-Month-Ahead Taping Schedule

Carlivati’s material as head writer on the NBC sudser will debut in mid-July, according to a Tweet by “Days of Our Lives” (Days) writer Tyler Topics. Scroll down to see his Tweet.

We brought you the news of Carlivati’s hiring at Days on January 24th. So he must have put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard) almost immediately, if Days continues to tape material six months in advance. Six months from then is mid-July, depending on exactly what one considers “mid.”

Something to Look Forward To

We’re quite enjoying Days these days, but an injection of new blood can be a great thing. And as fans of “One Life to Live” (OLTL) and “General Hospital” (GH) we know that Carlivati is an excellent soap writer. He honors show history and has a gift for bringing back gone-but-not-forgotten cast favorites. Yet his storylines are fresh and pleasantly unexpected at the same time. That takes skill!

If You Need More…

Carlivati won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series in 2008 for his work on OLTL. He was nominated for the same award for his work on that show twice before.

The talented dramaturge won two Writer’s Guild of America Awards for his work as head writer at GH. He was nominated twice prior to that for the same award for helming the writing team at OLTL.
