Katherine Kelly Lang and Ron Moss, the original “Bridge” on “Bold and the Beautiful”

Well, this “Bold and the Beautiful” supercouple is already together on-screen. As often happens on the CBS sudser, it’s complicated for Katherine Kelly Lang!

Real Life vs. Reel Life

Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan, “Bold and the Beautiful”) shared a photo on Instagram that made Brooke and Ridge (ex-Ron Moss) fans do a double take. She and Moss are embracing in it. Scroll down to see it. But be prepared to be taken back on a trip to 2012!

The Two Ridges

Four years ago, Moss exited the role of Ridge Forrester on “Bold and the Beautiful” (B&B). His reasons for doing so are still not totally clear, especially to his plentiful and vocal fan base. He had played the role for 25 years, after all. His departure from the show likely had to do with his desire to pursue other projects, such as music. He is in the band, “Player,” who sang the iconic late 1970’s hit, “Baby Come Back.” That toe-tapping foursome still tours. He also has a solo music career.

In 2013, Thorsten Kaye took over integral B&B role of Ridge Forrester. Though he does excellent work as the driven Forrester son, fans so associate Moss with the role, it’s almost like there are two Ridges. This is especially true of Katherine Kelly Lang’s pairing with Moss and now Kaye. It’s two people who we like equally in an iconic, daytime classic role. Similar situations have occurred on other shows, as with Michael Muhney’s and then Justin Hartley’s portrayals of Adam Newman on “The Young and the Restless.” Other such experiments in recasting haven’t gone so well, as with the multiple attempts to recast Tina Lord on “One Life to Live” that fans just couldn’t get behind, despite the choice of excellent actors to fill Andrea Evans shoes. There will always be one Tina to fans, and that’s Evans.

Always Nice to See the Love

The complexities of soap characters and soap viewing aside, it’s always good to see that an ex-supercouple on screen is good friends off-screen!
