Soap Cities Reader Profile #2: “Save AMC and OLTL” Co-Leader, Kymba

3

Every week we at Soap Cities profile a soap fan and Soap Cities reader from around the world in our Reader Profile. We soap fans are each an integral part of a vibrant, dynamic, eternal community. And here is one example of that!

Name: Kymba

Hometown: Columbus, Ohio

How long she’s been watching soaps: I’ve been watching soaps as long as I can remember. I would watch the ABC soaps with my grandmother, and then she would watch some of the others but I was not that into them.

Favorite soap: My all-time favorite is “All My Children” (AMC), with “One Life to Live” (OLTL) only a speck away. Might as well say they were both my favorites. Until they return I watch “General Hospital” (GH).

Favorite soap character: Oh, gosh, that is really a hard question. I have so many! So, I will go with the character that got me hooked on soaps, Lilly (Leven Rambin) from AMC. She made me want to learn about autism and ways to help those with it.

All-time favorite soap storyline: There have been so many over the years that it is really hard to pick just one, but I really loved the Fraternity Row story-line where fans of the show were fighting to keep it on the air, it mirrored our own fight to save AMC and OLTL.

On the Future of the Soap Genre: I believe that with a little hard work and dedication from the fans that those on could go another 50 years and for AMC and OLTL a revival! We are so close now I can almost taste it!

Fun fact: I am co-admin of the group “Save AMC & OLTL” on Facebook. We have gotten a lot of traction regarding getting the shows back again! Nathan Varni and Hulu have both come to our page letting us know we are being heard and they are listening! So for all you on the fence, join myself and FGM (Fairy God Mother) and lend your voice to the fight!
